CFI Program Overview
Comprehensive Training That Prepares You to Teach with Confidence
The CFI Academy is designed for pilots ready to advance their careers by developing the instructional, technical, and interpersonal skills needed to become effective teachers. Every session blends group classroom instruction with personalized flight training to ensure a complete learning experience.
Group Ground Instruction:
Each course begins with group ground classes covering the Fundamentals of Instruction (FOI), lesson planning, and detailed flight maneuver briefings. You will learn how to create lesson plans, explain aerodynamic concepts, and effectively communicate with students of varying experience levels.
One-on-One Flight Instruction:
After the ground phase, you will work one-on-one with experienced instructors to practice teaching from the right seat. This stage refines your technique, reinforces consistency, and prepares you for real instructional scenarios.
Checkride Preparation:
Our program includes oral exam prep, mock evaluations, and one-on-one sessions with instructors experienced in FAA practical tests, ensuring you are fully ready for your final checkride and puts you a path towards success.
Course Format & Duration:
Classes are offered several times a year in small cohorts to ensure personal attention and a collaborative learning environment. Students typically complete the program within a few weeks, depending on scheduling and weather.
Prerequisites
Before You Enroll, Make Sure You’re Ready for Takeoff
To join the CFI Academy, you must hold the following:

Commercial Pilot Certificate (Single or Multi-Engine)

Current FAA Medical Certificate

Current Flight Instructor’s Endorsement (if applicable for CFII)

FAA Knowledge Tests (FOI and CFI written exams), which can be completed before or during ground school
